A gouache painting of a landscape showing a stream flowing through tall green grass and plants, with mountains in the background under a sky with pink and blue clouds.

Meghan Krenek is an Appalachian artist and owner of Elm and Owl Gallery, whose work is inspired by the region’s landscape and the expressive qualities of Impressionism. Drawing from the mountains, forests, and changing seasons of Appalachia, she captures the subtle shifts of light, atmosphere, and color that define a sense of place.

Working primarily in gouache, Meghan embraces the medium’s matte finish and rich pigmentation to create layered, luminous compositions. Influenced by Impressionist techniques, her process is intuitive and responsive, focusing on mood and fleeting moments rather than precise representation. Her work evokes both memory and immediacy, inviting viewers to experience the quiet beauty of the natural world.
