Becca Irvin
Becca Irvin was born and raised in West Tennessee. With a lifelong passion for art, she pursued a degree in art at East Tennessee State University, where during her senior year she helped lead a team in building a soda-fired kiln. In 2013, she received a full scholarship to study ceramics in Tuscany, Italy, at the Spannocchia Castello Institute.
After earning her BFA in ceramics in 2014, Becca completed an apprenticeship under renowned master potter Greg Pace. Together, they built a 75-cubic-foot gas-fired car kiln. Under his mentorship, she learned glaze calculation and mastered the crystalline glazing process.
In the fall of 2019, Becca was accepted into a residency at the Sanbao Ceramic International Art Institute in Jingdezhen, China, where she spent six weeks producing and exhibiting ceramic work abroad. She has worked full-time as a studio potter since 2015.
In 2022, Becca purchased her mentor Greg Pace’s Mount Pisgah Pottery studio just outside Asheville, North Carolina. She is currently developing the studio and gallery space to welcome the public. Her studio and pottery can be viewed at 1792 Pisgah Hwy, Candler, NC 28715.
